Blog #4- Venn Diagram-Antibiotics vs Vaccines

The purpose of the Antibiotics vs vaccines diagram is to make others aware of the difference between vaccines and antibiotics and the reason why vaccines are recommended for all children and adults. I chose this topic since I work in the medical field and I have seen parents that choose to not vaccinate there children without a good reason. I think if more education is provided to the parents of the importance of vaccines a lot more parents may be more willing to vaccinate their children and not risk the child getting a disease.

Blog Post #3

In the article, “I Want a Wife,” the writer talks about the expectations that a wife should uphold. She talks about how the wife should make sure the children are well taken care of, the house is neat and proper, as well as attending to the sexual relationships from the partner. The writer is trying to portray a perfect wife and we all know that nobody is perfect. When it comes to a wife the other partner should have some expectations but never except the wife to do everything.

In the article, “Men-It’s in their Nature,” the writer talks about the males in society. She talks about how “males are better spatial reasoning skills, females better verbal skills and how males are greater risks takers, females are more nurturing (Sommers 366).” She also talks about how our society will help to create these boys into successful men.

I am going to choose to analyze “I Want a Wife,” since I think the article has some very interesting points about women and the expectations that their partner may have of us as a wife.

Favorite Place

I first went to this place about 3 years ago and I try to stop every time we go out of town. I enjoy the fresh air and the sound of the water that's runs through here. When I go I love to hike up higher to see the whole waterfall from the middle of it. I enjoy taking my family to enjoy the scenery, the gift shop, the restaurant, the smell of the coffee and pastries being made daily. This waterfall has a path that can be hiked up and along the path is great areas to take pictures. The waterfall is a great place to visit and almost everybody who visits this place wants to go back many times.

"Destroyed" by Peter Martin

1.      In the short article “Destroyed” by Peter Martin talks about how the athletes throughout the world are using different kind of steroids throughout their careers. A lot of the athletes believe that using the steroids is helping them in their playing ability but in fact they are actually hurting themselves and others around them. Even though the doping effect may seem great at the time the long term effects can be terrible and even cause death. Then when the athletes are caught using the steroids or other medication they are punished but nobody seems to take this serious enough to get them the proper help instead of just fining them or terminating their contract to play.

2.      A lot of times people get really upset when they find out that an athlete is using drugs to play better throughout the season but don’t take the time to find out what is the reason that the athlete is taking these drugs. These drugs can lead to serious side effects and even cause deaths in certain individuals. We should be more aware of how to help these athletes when they face a drug addiction (Martin 580-582).

3.      “Athletes are as free as other people to make mistakes and suffer the consequences: in short, they are humans like the rest of us (Martin 580-580).” I chose this state in the article because it is the truth. Even though they are athletes they are humans just like we are and sometimes they may not know how to discontinue with the drugs because it is an addiction and without the proper help they don’t know any better. In reality if the society was better on helping instead of judging these athletes there may be more that come forward and admit they have a problem and get the help that is needed. Everybody in the world make mistakes and the only thing that needs to be done is to learn from that mistake and move forward.
